Daniela Buendia

Hi I'm Daniela Buendia and I'm a Pisces! I'm in civil engineering hoping to possibly switch into mechanical. I was born and raised in the small city of Pacoima located in Southern California. I joined the sorority so I could have a family outside of my actually home, with people I could relate with when I'm struggling or when I had doubts. I really needed a support system especially when I'm experiencing everything for the first time on my own. I thought it was a good opportunity for me to create connections with people who i see as sisters. I tend to be very shy when I meet new people which I've been working really hard on to fix. Once I get to know the person more and they get to know me they'll see I'm a very compassionate and a caring person.

Some fun facts about me are that I really love choco pies, it's my favorite snack, and I also really enjoy hot fries. I like to swim, and I also hope to start going to the gym at some point. My favorite quote is one that my dad said, "The hardest thing is not starting, but finishing." Remembering my dad said that has motivated me to keep focused so I won't disappoint my family.

Denise Butler

Hi, my names Denise Butler, and I’m studying to be a Mechanical Engineer. In July 2017, I drove cross country from Virginia to California. I stopped along the way to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Corn Palace, Mount Rushmore, my uncle’s house in Montana, and the Moon Craters National Park.  Out of all the places I stopped, Mt. Rushmore was my favorite! My favorite thing to do in my spare time is crafting, do it yourself projects, and exploring new areas around the Bay Area. My favorite foods are ice cream and Chinese food. I played soccer for 16 years, during which I tore my ACL three times. I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon, because after I moved I wanted to start making friends and having a close by support system of strong willed females, especially in this major is always helpful. Ending up with so many sisters was just a plus.

Kylie Dodge

Hi I’m Kylie and I’m an Aquarius. I was born and raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii so I grew up going to the beach almost everyday! My family and I eventually had to move to the Bay Area for a few years, and when it was time for us to move back to Hawaii, I decided to continue my education here at SJSU where I am majoring in Industrial Technology with a minor in Business Management. I joined the sorority because I wanted to find other female engineers to relate to, and I really liked the idea of a group of girls coming together to support one another.

Here are some fun facts about me: my last name is Dodge but I drive a Hyundai, I love pistachios more than life, and I didn't lose all of my baby teeth until I was 16. Some things I like to do are go to the beach, surf, play board games, and ride around campus on my nickel board. I love being outdoors and going on spontaneous trips and adventures, so I’m pretty much down for anything. Sometimes you just gotta risk it for the biscuit!

Vanessa Jimenez

Hi! My name is Vanessa Jimenez, and I am a mechanical engineering major. My natural curiosity, imagination, and desire to be challenged are what first drew me to this career path. I chose it because I am always coming up with new ideas or solutions. By the end of my four years here, I hope to be better equipped to bring them to life. I joined A.O.E. because it is great to be surrounded by girls who are taking similar classes. Not only that but the sisters here genuinely care and want everyone to succeed in all their endeavors. All this plus there is a major focus on meeting career goals, professional development, and networking.

When I am not focusing on school, I enjoy singing, hiking, and going on spontaneous adventures. I also love trying new things. This is how I ended up on the SJSU Club Archery Competition team!

Emily Kao

Hey y’all my name is Emily and I’m a Mechanical Engineering major hoping to also minor in Business! I’m Bay Area born and raised from Fremont, California. I have one sister who is 1 year and 364 days older than me since our birthdays are actually one day apart! I’ve played volleyball since I was 12 years old and I’m actually on the SJSU Club Volleyball team! I live in lululemon leggings and if you hang out with me you’ll pick up on some of my catchphrases that I apparently have. Some fun facts about me: I love spontaneous adventures, being outdoors, working out (most of the time), I’m an Australian and American citizen, I love boba, and I love to take naps. I love to eat all types of food but my favorites are Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Mexican.

I joined the sorority to meet new girls in engineering, make connections, and have a family not connected by blood. I decided to join A.O.E. with some of my closest friends, and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to become even closer to them as sisters.

Alisha Mehndiratta

Hello! My name is Alisha Mehndiratta and I am a Computer Engineering student at SJSU. I have lived in the Bay Area for the majority of my life and I absolutely love it here. I enjoy spending lots of time with my amazing family and friends. My favorite show on Netflix has to be Grey's Anatomy! I enjoy shopping and one of my favorite clothing colors is olive green.

I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon to have another family who can be my support system. I love all the people that I met because I was able to create good relationships with them. The sorority allowed me to be a part of something that now means the world to me!

Sarah Saber

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am majoring in Computer Science. I am a knitter, a Disney fan, and a blogger. I started my Instagram coding blog in the summer of 2017 to document what I was working on, keep track of my progress, and motivate myself to code more while getting to know inspiring people in tech. I love going to hackathons, meeting new people, knitting cool stuff and spending time with friends and family. Some of my favorite TV shows are Gilmore Girls, Suits, and Quantico. I prefer pasta to rice, fried to raw sushi, and deep conversations to small talk. I joined A.O.E because I believe it is important to have a support system of like-minded girls who share the same passion for science and engineering.

Freya Start

Hi I’m Freya! I’m British, but I don’t have an accent. I moved to California from London when I was 6 years old. I have two siblings, a brother who’s 14 years younger than me and a sister who’s 16 years younger than me. I like to get iced caramel latte’s from Starbucks and I love to read. I have a giant book collection back at home in Downtown LA. Also, I’m on the competitive archery team at SJSU because I thought it would be fun to try something new. I’m a mechanical engineering major hoping to minor in both computer science and in math. I joined the sorority because I wanted to get closer with my friends and I wanted to branch out and gain some sisters.

Kathy Tong

Hello there! My name is Kathy Tong. I was born and raised in San Jose, currently pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, baby of the Delta class and first person born in 2000 to join AΩE Beta Upsilon Chapter! I'm not one to be physically active but I do enjoy taking relaxing walks, sleeping (which never really happens now), hanging out with friends and eating great (cheap) food especially if it is near campus. I don't always watch TV but on Netflix, Criminal Minds is definitely my go-to thanks to my younger sister and if I'm taking it easy then I let Spongebob play in the background while I do homework. I don't have a favorite food but I do prefer savory foods over sweets with milk tea only being the exception- I absolutely love MILK TEA and strawberries.

I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon because I want to be able to grow in an environment filled with hard-working females in engineering/technical science majors who continue to inspire me every day and motivate me to keep persevering through all my struggles. I feel that through AΩE I can not only benefit academically but also grow as an individual to better pay it forward to my family, current/incoming sisters and community. I hope to motivate others to work hard to achieve their goals and be a supportive member to everyone in AΩE!

Nancy Tran

Hello! My name is Nancy and I am an Aquarius born in the year 1996. I transferred from De Anza College after three years, and I am currently studying Civil Engineering at San Jose State University. I was born and raised in San Jose, California. I joined A.O.E because I wanted to join a group related to my major since it was my first semester at San Jose State University. Also, I wanted to be able to connect and reach out to others in my profession, and I hope to one day advise others who are in the same position. My interests include watching television shows, adventures, hiking, and trying new milk tea places. I am always open to try new things and go on food adventures.

Hanna Vu

Hello there! My name is Hanh (Hanna) Vu and I am a Biomedical Engineering major at SJSU. I live in Livermore, CA with my family. Having two younger sisters has prepared me take on even more when I joined A.O.E and now I am glad to be a part of a REALLY big and loving family of 35+ sisters! I grew up as a musician then artist then actress and now I'm fulfilling my love for science as a student at this school. I much prefer the theatre than the cinema and I love going on food adventures (and never exercising the day after) as well as crafting and working on way too difficult art projects instead of homework.
