Kayla Gonzalez

Hello there! My name is Kayla Gonzalez. I’m a Bay Area native ready to take on the Silicon Valley. I’m a huge foodie who loves going on food adventures; whether it be for something savory or some fanciful sweets and treats, trust me, I’ll be there. Just know you’ll never see proof of the food I eat on social media because it’s already partying in my tummy before I can even remember to take a picture. I’m a transfer student at SJSU and am majoring in Civil Engineering. Out of high school I went straight to art school to study Architecture; and although I still love the major, the environment just wasn’t for me. I missed taking all my science and math classes, thus leading me toward engineering. I chose Civil Engineering because it’s so diverse and still closely related to architecture.

Coming to San Jose, it was a whole new city I had never been to before and I didn’t know anyone. I’m a very shy and quiet person, so I knew making friends on my own and getting involved would be quite difficult. So, I took myself out of my comfort zone and decided to join Alpha Omega Epsilon. And let me tell you… it’s probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In just a short amount of time, these women have become my home away from home. Not only are they smart and strong willed, but they are also the most supportive group of women I have ever met. They encourage me to study hard and strive for my goals, but also remind me to enjoy the little things and have fun while on this journey through college.

Grace Jun

Hello! Hi! Hi! My name is Grace Jun. I am a civil engineering major. I was born in Daegu, South Korea, and moved to Torrance, CA when I was six years old. Torrance is in LA County and 10 minutes away from Redondo Beach. Living near the beach, I loved going into the deep ends of the ocean and just float. In high school, I was enrolled in an engineering course and found I wanted to pursue a career in the engineering field but did not know exactly which engineering I wanted to do. When it was time for me to pick a major for college applications I chose civil engineering because it was a combination of both my parents’ major; mechanical engineering and architecture. I am currently in the Air Force ROTC program on campus and I plan on commissioning into the Air Force as a Civil Engineering Officer. I have always found the military life very interesting with the ranking, discipline, and the customs they have. I joined AOE because when I first moved to San Jose, the friends I made were mostly business majors. I wanted friends in the same major to have the support to get through difficult and stressful classes. Few fun facts about me are that I learned how to swim by jumping in the ocean. I am crazy about cookies and boba. I love watching horror films/movies in my free time.

Tiffany Nguyen

Hey! My name is Tiffany Nguyen, and I am a Civil Engineering major. I was born in San Jose and raised in Milpitas. Growing up, I’ve always had a curiosity towards how infrastructures are able to stand tall, yet look aesthetically pleasing to the eye. In high school, I focused on studying for my favorite classes such as math and physics. For these reasons, I chose to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. My goal after college is to become a government engineer, who influences policy and regulations for public projects. I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon because I feel that in order for me to grow as a person in a male-dominated field, I need to surround myself around smart and uplifting girls. In my free time, I binge anime of different genres ranging from shonen to isekai and slice of life. One of my favorite anime is Mob Psycho 100. I also find myself working out and doing clothing DIY to add some spice to my wardrobe. A fun fact about me is that my favorite flavor in any type of dessert is matcha.

Isabella Solis

My name is Isabella Solis- Ornelaz and im an Industrial Engineering Major expected to graduate in 2022. I’ve lived in Hayward, California surrounded by my family ever since I was born, so when it was time to decide where I’m going to college, I chose San Jose State to be able to see my family everyday. As a first generation college student, I was unsure of what I wanted to major in, but I know I enjoy math and science. While applying to San Jose State I saw the many disciplines of engineering programs available. After looking into each program, I decided the Industrial and Systems Engineering program was for me. The idea of helping businesses make the best decisions reflects who I am as someone who wants to watch those around me make the best decisions for themselves. Working to reduce waste and make workplaces more efficient also appeals to me.

I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon with the hope of finding more support and guidance not only as a female engineer, but because I’m a first generation student as well. Upon first meeting the girls, they were so friendly and inviting. The sorority has made my first year immensely better through resources and advice. Im thankful to be a part of this sorority.

Praggathi Raja Rao

Hello! I’m Praggathi Raja Rao and I’m studying Computer Science at San Jose State. I was born and raised in India until the age of twelve and I moved to Cupertino, California starting seventh grade. I’ve always had a strong inclination towards math growing up so it was easy for me to figure out that I wanted a career based on problem-solving. Being in Silicon Valley compelled me to take Computer Science classes in high school and it was only then I narrowed down what major I wanted to pursue. I plan to go to graduate school to further my education before working full-time as a Software Engineer. I never saw myself being a part of a sorority until I stumbled upon Alpha Omega Epsilon and met my wonderful sisters. Being part of a supportive female community with similar ambitions has been quite a rewarding experience and has allowed me to form meaningful connections and network. During my free time, I love to binge TV shows during which I’m usually always solving sudoku puzzles. I also love hanging out with my friends during the few hours I’m not binging a new show. I enjoy going out to eat and I’m a huge fast food enthusiast.
