IOTA CLASS
Shirley Arriaga

Hello! My name is Shirley Antonio Arriaga. I was born in and raised in the Bay Area. I am currently majoring in mechanical engineering. I wanted a career that had many pathways as well as incorporating design into the major. I absolutely love working with 3D programs and seeing how small comments combine make one huge system work. In the future, I hope to work for a tech company that allows me to create and explore more in depth what mechanical engineering really is. I currently work for EAP(Engineering Ambassadors Program)in which I am able to mentor high schoolers in their science fair projects and give them an insight on college. I also enjoy playing my ukulele, hammocking outside or even painting. I decided to join AOE mainly because I wanted support along my college challenges but also because I wanted to network with other females in STEM majors. I am excited and eager to make lifelong bonds and memories.
Natalie Lewis

Hello! I am Natalie Lewis and I am currently an Aerospace Engineering student. I chose to move to San Jose from a small town in southern California so I could focus on my studies and for the opportunities that Silicon Valley provides. My major choice was inspired by my grandfather who is a retired air force pilot and is currently a part time test pilot. When I was young he would take me on flights and to Museums so I could learn more about spacecrafts and air crafts. During college I plan to gain as much experience as possible through internships so I can hopefully get a job at SpaceX with innovative space exploration technology. In my free time I love to workout, choreograph hip hop routines, visit new places with friends. I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon to surround myself with other women in STEM majors so I could have a strong support system, which is vital to be successful in a male dominated field. I also joined because I want to inspire other women to follow their passion and prevent the discouragement that many women face in STEM majors and careers.
Amany Othman
Hey! My name is Amany Othman. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, specifically Redwood City. I chose to go to San Jose State University to stay close to home and of course because of their amazing engineering department. I am currently majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Architectural Studies. I choose to major in Civil Engineering because I want to be able to make a difference in my community and be able to see the work I put in be of use to others. It was also inspired by my love of seeing things be put together and designing something big. During my college career I want to grow within my major and be able to make connections with people to better my knowledge and experience in it. After my college career I would love to get employed at a company that has smaller projects and slowly move my way up to a bigger company to help me slowly get into the working force. I love to play basketball and paint on canvas in my free time. I have always loved drawing so it inspired me to try painting which I turned out to love. I decided to join Alpha Omega Epsilon because my major, like other engineering majors, is very male dominated. I wanted to be around other women in STEM and be able to have those girls who understand what I am going through. For us to be able to support one another and help each other throughout the struggle. As well as make lifetime friends.
Liliana Urena

Hello everyone! My name is Liliana Urena. I grew up in the small town of Napa, so moving to San Jose was a big change for me but I had my heart set on going to SJSU to major in Chemical Engineering. Since I grew up on a farm, I gained interest in someday working in the area of pesticides/pest control. I hope to one day work for a company that focuses on sustainability because I want to contribute to society in the most eco-friendly way possible. In my spare time I enjoy just being outside either on a walk or hike, and I also like to make jewelry as a form of stress relief. I actually had never considered joining a sorority, but I saw the active sisters tabling spring semester 0f 2020 and I was amazed to see that there was a sorority for STEM majors. I joined the Alpha Omega Epsilon Beta Upsilon Chapter because I wanted to be a part of a professional group where I could also shape really great friendships. I have gained a lot of support and motivation from the rest of the sisters in Alpha Omega Epsilon at SJSU, and I truly believe that each and every one of us will find success.
