Ane Basanez

Hello! My name is Ane Basanez and I’m from the Basque Country, Spain. I am currently studying Electrical Engineering. I’ve always wanted to study an engineering major and as soon as I learned how practical and how much electrical engineering jobs demand there is, I chose my major. I have still not decided what to do after I finish my major, however, I am intending to apply to internships so that I can gain real life experiences.

Originally, I was planning to study in Madrid, Spain and get my EE degree there, however, after I visited the Bay Area with my family, I fell in love with this place and I decided to study abroad. When I transferred to SJSU I decided to join AΩE and I am very happy that I have created new friendships within the engineering field.

Samantha Guanzon

Hi! My name is Samantha Guanzon, and I’m a Software Engineering major from Tracy, CA. Growing up, I always loved being creative through hobbies such as music or painting. But at the same time, I also loved studying science and math in school. When the time came to choose a field of study in college, I found that software engineering gave me that balance between my passions of creativity and science. I attended community college at San Joaquin Delta College and earned my A.S. in Computer Science before transferring here to SJSU, and I’m so glad I’ve had the chance to meet so many more women in this male-dominated industry. This was my main motivation for joining Alpha Omega Epsilon; I wanted to join this amazing support system full of women who uplift each other. Outside of school and work, I still love making music and spending time with family and friends!

Isabella Licea

Hi! My name is Isabella Licea and I’m a Biology major from Diamond Bar, California. As a former Red Cross volunteer, HOSA member, and FIRST member I was exposed to many experiences that furthered my passion for the healthcare field and my community, so I am currently on the Pre-Physician Assistant track and hope to attend PA school after undergraduate. I joined AΩE to be part of an amazing organization of fellow women in STEM to further my professional career and build everlasting friendships. Some of my hobbies include hiking, going to the beach, getting boba, playing with my dog, and being with friends and family.

Emarel Mae Marasigan

Hi! My name is Emarel Mae Marasigan, and I'm from Sunnyvale. I'm currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I decided to major in ME because I would have the opportunity to find a career related to mechanical design and graphics. While I've lived in Silicon Valley for all of my life, it wasn't until my sophomore year of high school that I was exposed to the various careers in STEAM; it was something I knew I wanted to pursue my education in. During my time here at SJSU, I wish to grow professionally and personally as I strive to land an internship at a startup. I joined AΩE to be surrounded by like-minded women who will push me to reach my fullest potential and make unforgettable memories along the way. While school plays a significant factor in my life, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and weight lifting. I also love food and traveling!

Hello! I am Jessica Suarez, from Bakersfield, California. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering at SJSU. I originally wanted to become a Neurosurgeon, however I ended up going to CSU Maritime Academy to study Marine Engineering. I learned that I really enjoyed working on machines. That is when I knew engineering would be something I saw myself pursuing a career in. After two years, I came back to my hometown and finished my A.S in Engineering. After transferring into SJSU, I decided to be involved. I joined AOE to meet new people. To make new connections, which in the end I have met the most amazing people.
