Diana Knobler

Hi there! My name is Diana Knobler and I’m currently a biomedical engineering major. Originally from Los Angeles, California, I chose to leave my hometown to study in the heart of the Silicon Valley. As the daughter of a cancer survivor, I was able to see firsthand the equipment and procedures in  today’s medical industry that are in need of improvement and chose this major with the intent of taking those challenges on. When I’m not studying or working on ways to further develop my career, I’m spending time with my family and friends or finding something new to teach myself. I joined AΩE because I feel that with so few women pursuing degrees in STEM majors today it’s more important than ever for us to support each other.

One fun fact about me is that I went into high school wanting to be a prosecuting attorney and studied public and legal services for all four years. I didn’t realize my love for engineering until my sophomore year of high school when I took an AutoCAD class after school just for fun. I’ve also taken a cooking and hospitality class and am a licensed California Food Handler so I guess you could say I’m pretty well-rounded and willing to try anything.

Julia Seligman

Hey! I’m Julia Seligman and I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering here at San Jose State University. I was born and raised in a small Bay Area town called Oakley. I tend to always go home on the weekends to see my family, since I only live an hour away, and to see my dog because I am obsessed with him. My hobbies include playing all kinds of sports, watching TV, and being in the outdoors. Most people describe me as chill, funny, and kind. If you ever want to find me catch me at the gym, in the Panda Express line, at the beach, or in my bed taking a nap. A fun fact about me is that I love elephants so much that I got a tattoo of them on my side.

I

joined A.O.E. because I wanted to be apart of a family filled with amazing and smart women in STEM. It is great to be surrounded by girls who support me and who are going through similar struggles; I’m super glad to be involved in something so wonderful.
